Half-Day Workshop: A Framework for Strategic Planning in Higher Education
Friday, 3 March 2023

8:00-11:30am (Hawai'i) / 10:00am-1:30pm (Pacific) / 1:00-4:30pm (Eastern)

SUMMARY: What does it mean to engage in strategic planning that centers movement-building and anti-oppressive goals? This half-day online workshop presents the framework, approaches, and materials for strategic planning that I have developed and used as a leader and consultant in numerous colleges, centers, and other units in higher education. I will describe the overall vision, five stages of the process, and lessons learned, and I will share a number of sample materials and templates that can be easily adapted for other institutions. Many examples will come from my work with colleges, departments, and centers in the field of education, but the approaches will be applicable to a variety of educational institutions, and although the workshop is designed for educational leaders (particularly deans, chairs, and directors), registration is open to all who are interested. During the workshop, participants will have time to work in groups to dive more deeply into the concepts and materials, consider what they might mean for their respective contexts, and develop and get feedback on an action plan. This workshop will not be recorded.

VENUE ONLINE: Registrants will receive instructions for joining the online workshop in the weeks preceding the workshop.

REGISTRATION: Select from three options to register; each rate is per person.

$549     Regular Registration

$499     Group-Rate Registration: To increase the capacity of participants when they return to their institutions after the Workshop, institutions are strongly encouraged to send teams of two or more. Institutions that send two or more participants are eligible to receive this discounted rate ($499 per person). Institutions sending teams of 6 or more may inquire about even lower group rates.

$449     Discounted Registration: This rate entails the same workshop experience but at a lower cost, and may be selected by anyone with limited financial resources.

PAYMENTS: All payments must be submitted at the time of registration, and are non-refundable. Participants may arrive late or leave early, which does not change the registration fees.
